Sad news to share that such a young elder has passed on due to his battle with a coma sustained from a gun shot received in his head during an altercation. Aside from the violent conclusion to his biography, the body of work left behind by Winston Riley has shaped and propelled reggae & dancehall music to where it is today. Producing the first Jamaican record to hit #1 on the UK charts with Dave & Ansel’s Double Barrel in the late sixties. Going forward he was still staying relevant introducing such acts to the reggae spectrum such as Sister Nancy, Cutty Ranks & Buju Banton. Enjoy a couple oldies and dig a little deeper to see how much influence Mr. Riley had on the island of sun’s music business.
